It does not matter

What we’ve had done
Or who we were
Or what we used to be on
Today we stand together
And I don’t care how
We came to this point
But we are here now
I’ll never let us go
Never forget you
Unless you say so
But I can never do
You’re my other half
(Without you, I’ll still breathe)
You are the smile to my laugh
(But I’ll always feel incomplete)
Look at how many miles
We’ve driven together
So many days and nights
Inside a blue explorer
We had made memories
I’d never trade
And the photos we took
Will never fade
It does not matter
What we have had done
Or who we were
Or what we used to be on
Today we stand together
And I don’t care how
We came to this point
But we are here now

Mile After Mile

It’s raining in the dark outside
We’ve been at this a little too long
Let us make peace and play nice
And maybe we could all get along

It’s still raining as the sun shine
I’ve been kicked to the curb
Taken away from what once was mine
Could any of this get any worse?

Shelter me, o’ weeping tree
From the heavy raindrops falling
Down, down, down like misery
I’m desperate to hear my calling

A bird flies overhead, I look up
Suddenly, it seems as if it speaks
Telling me to awaken and to stand up
“You need to believe you are not weak”

Keep on walking in the word of truth
your knees may get tired after a while
But they are never going to fail you
If you keep the belief in faith, mile after mile

Come Sit By Me

Come sit by me on this mountain here

See the majesty of Mother Nature at her boldest

It feels different with the wilderness lurking near

Get warm before nightfall, she can be at her coldest

Sit by me by this fire here

Believe I will keep you warm

Don’t you worry, dear

I will chase away any harm

Wherever you may be, here or there

At any times, I will cross the world

At your call or just to be near

Always know you’re my special

Outside, amongst the trees

I find myself right at home

I feel, almost entirely free

And never, ever alone

Come sit by me, open your eyes

Breathe in the fresh, cool pine

See the eagles diving in the skies

Lay down in meadows in warm sunshine

Can’t you see, this was meant to be

I was given signs that led me to you

You were right there, just made for me

That was when I knew

Oh, yes…  I knew

Battle Up

To where, to where do I go?

Once was I lost among the shadows

I’d tried to walk in over-sized shoes

Tried to live the life just like you

But you know what I realize?

By being me, I am perfectly fine

The expensive brands that I don’t wear

and the salons I don’t go to do my hair

Shouldn’t at all

define me ’cause

I’m much more than what you see

the question is: can you handle me?

I’m the power of the sun bottled up

fully charged and ready to battle up

Keeping steady, my mind on ready

Think like a man, act like a lady

Just because I can kick some ass

Does not mean I do not have class

I have love in my life for which I am grateful

I have family and friends for which I am thankful

My heart has the words – I only lend it my voice

You can’t change the world without making noise

My So-Called “Best Friend”

So here we are, at the year’s end
It’s funny
how we went from being family
To two complete strangers
Over stolen money
She was someone I used to trust
Someone I used to love
More than my own life
My former muse with blue eyes
But then, she had left me used
My loyalty, she had abused
Is she still worth it?
I surely doubt it.
now with open eyes
I saw her coverted lies
Manipulative little girl
Stuck in an adult’s world
She was as fake as my purse
Didn’t think she’d be any worse
But she had proved me wrong
Its time for me to move along
All the songs we wrote together
Had made for a real good bonfire
Memories of us, erased to the end
I’ve had set fire to my so called bestfriend
my so called best friend
My so called best friend
Say her name I’d say who?
Who, who, who?
I don’t know her
just another stranger

My Little Girl

My girl
My special
My wonderful
She’s got eyes that can slice thru an ironclad heart
A smile sure to brighten any soul stuck in the dark
Innocence is the perfume that she wears so well
She saved me from falling into the pits of Hell
The day she was rolled into my room
With a tuft of hair, her deep dimples in full bloom
I vowed to love you, to devote my life to you
You became the light to keep my path true
My child, my beautiful daughter
You make me proud to be a mother
My wonderful
My special
My girl

The Fork in the Road

So we have come upon a fork in the road
Never did I think you’d go the other way
So this shall be where we share our “adieu”
See ya in another life, thanks for the craze
We’ve had chased and caused in this world
Despite our history, I’m ready to step away
You weren’t as true as I thought of you
By nightfall, I was riding out of the haze
I see you now, clearly out of the smoke
You had me fooled but this stops today
Soon you’re but a shadow in my rearview
pedal to the metal, I had y’all in a faze
